Pederson was placed on the 10-day IL back on April 22, but he has been activated for Monday’s matchup vs. the Dodgers. He dealt with tendinitis in his left wrist, but he’s back in the starting lineup in a “revenge game” vs. his former team. Keegan Thompson has been sent back to the alternate training site in a corresponding move. Pederson wasn’t performing particularly well before getting injured, posting a .137/.262/.235 slash line with 20 strikeouts over just 61 plate appearances. That’s obviously a small sample size, but Pederson was also a below-average hitter in his final season with the Dodgers.
Pederson will be in the leadoff spot in the lineup in a tough matchup vs. Walker Buehler. Buehler has evolved into one of the best pitchers in baseball, and he’s posted a 3.16 ERA through his first five starts this season. The Cubs will send Kyle Hendricks to the mound, and they are currently listed as +158 underdogs in this matchup on FanDuel Sportsbook.
