Natural beauty drew artist to Saratoga County

People come to the Saratoga Springs area for many reasons: the horses, SPAC, ballet or a dip in the historic mineral baths.
About 10 years later, she now paints in oils and draws in pastels from a studio perched atop a ridge overlooking the lake just off Route 9.
The view is exactly like one of her paintings: rich blue/greens contrast with dapples of sparkling light as pinkish-cotton clouds waft across the horizon.
A native of Jamaica, Walter lived the commuter life, traveling from Long Island to Manhattan as a production coordinator at various media firms for many years.
Largely self-taught, she reminds us that we are all artists given the right subject matter, natural abilities and desire.
The fruits of this journey are now being harvested with an impressive list of exhibitions, including two works in the Adirondack National Pastel Third Annual Juried Show on view at the Shirt Factory Gallery in Glens Falls through Aug. 12, where she has been awarded the Pan Pastel Award for "Preserve."
First and foremost, I feel a sense of awe regarding the landscape, a sense of reverence even.
Being a busy working mom, most of my painting is done at night after the kids are in bed.
