I know my wife lies about washing her hands and it’s putting me on edge
DEAR DEIDRE: EVEN though my wife says she washes her hands, I know she is lying.
She hardly ever does. I know because I watch her.
I know my wife hardly ever washes her hands[/caption]She will give her hands a cursory flash under the tap when she first comes in but never actually uses soap.
It’s the same when she goes to the toilet. I found it off-putting before but since Covid-19, it’s really putting me on edge. I’m 44 and she’s 42.
I try not to touch anywhere she has been, hate her touching me and have stopped eating the meals she prepares.
I have tried to speak to her but she gets really angry and says I am being over the top.
Do you think I’m being unreasonable?

DEIDRE SAYS: No. You are not being unreasonable.
You are right to insist your wife uses soap to wash. Simply using water doesn’t get rid of germs on our hands. Using soap does.
Explain to your wife she is risking your health and anyone she comes into contact with.
