EastEnders fans fear for Lady Di as the Carter’s pet pooch vanishes from Albert Square
EASTENDERS fans are wondering where the Carter’s beloved pooch Lady Di has got to.
The popular bulldog- who is played by Hot Lips – has starred on the BBC soap since 2013.
Usually, spotted by her dad Mick Carter’s side, the iconic doggo has been mysteriously missing and hasn’t been seen for months – since the show resumed filming after the coronavirus lockdown.
Fans took to Twitter to express their concern over Lady Di’s whereabouts, asking “what’s happened to Lady Di?”.
One Twitter user wrote: Where’s Lady Di, how are mick and Linda affording her upkeep?
Another added: “Where has Lady Di suddenly disappeared to? Come to think of it, when was the last time saw her?”
And a third said: “Where is the dog lady di? I can’t even see evidence of dog stuff in their new flat either.”
But we can reveal that fans need not worry, Lady Di has been given a pause from working on EastEnders due to Covid safety restrictions.
A show insider told The Sun: “Lady Di is still very much around, but it’s tricky to film with animals on set currently.
“For instance, a character can’t pass a dog’s lead to another actor without it being sterilised.”
The insider added: “The soap are keeping the amount of crew on set to an absolute minimum for safety reasons and that includes animal handlers.”
Lady Di moved into the Queen Vic with the Carters in 2013 and soon became pregnant with Abi Branning’s dog Tramp.
In 2014, the pooch gave birth to five healthy pups, after one nearly died.
The adorable pooch is named after Diana, Princess of Wales.
Other canine stars on the London based soap include, Bronson the staffie has been on the Eastenders since 2017 after he arrived to the square with the Taylor family.
All the major soaps, including EastEnders have had to implement strict protocols to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Cast and crew are required to stay at least two metres apart at all times, while regular deep cleaning of sets and temperature testing keeps everyone safe.
An assistant director was fired from EastEnders after not revealing he was suffering from symptoms of the disease.
