Toby Alderweireld takes to Twitter after suffering injury against Manchester City
Toby Alderweireld has taken to Twitter following Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-0 win against Manchester City to thank supporters for their well wishes.
The defender went to ground in the 79th minute clutching his groin and gestured to the Spurs medical team staff member who came to his aid as if he had pulled his groin.
Jose Mourinho admitted in his post-match press conference that Alderweireld has suffered a bad muscular injury (Football.London).
Alderweireld has in the space of the last week played the full 90 minutes of Belgium’s 4-2 victory against Denmark along with the 2-0 win against England, however, Mourinho refused to blame anyone for the injury.
The 31-year-old praised his side’s performance against City and revealed that he hoped that his injury outcome would not be too severe.
Alderweireld was a rock at the back alongside Eric Dier with the central defensive pair denying Pep Guardiola’s side on more than one occasion to ensure the North Londoners went top of the Premier League table.
Fantastic team performance/clean sheet/win today! Disappointed to pick up an injury, fingers crossed it’s not too bad. Thanks for all the messages ???? #COYS pic.twitter.com/cx5LV6lnmz
