Care home worker jailed for slapping elderly resident battling dementia and forcing hot food into another’s mouth
A CARE home worker was jailed for slapping a dementia-hit OAP in the face and forcing hot food into another’s mouth.
Bully Carla Graham, 60, was seen by colleagues ramming spoonfuls into one resident, making her go bright red.
Her other victim was slapped after she had hit back at Graham.
She was described by colleagues as “frightening”, who “bullied them” at Heron Hill care home in Kendal, Cumbria.
Judge Barker said of her three victims: “They were essentially helpless, extremely vulnerable, unable to do anything for themselves.
“They were entirely in the hands of those who cared for them.
“In my judgement, you were ill-suited to this line of work. You did not have the temperament; you did not have the patience.
“There is a breach of trust here. You breached it in an egregious way affecting the most vulnerable.”
Graham’s former colleagues turned whistleblowers to inform police of the abuse she doled out to three dementia victims during 2018.
