Rapper Braxton ‘Brax’ Baker bravely revealed horrific rape that left her ‘sick & traumatized’ before her death
RAPPER Braxton Baker bravely opened up about how she was raped at a party which sent her into a “deep depression” before her death aged 21.
Her mother, Letricia Loftin Russell, sadly revealed her daughter had died on Thursday, writing that her “Angel Has Ascended.”
Rapper and social media influencer Braxton died aged 21[/caption]Before her death, Braxton wrote an inspirational and emotional blog post to help women heal and move on from rape – and included her own harrowing story of sexual assault.
“With my experience, I blamed myself terribly for about a month,” she wrote in the heartfelt article published on her sister’s blog The Good Girls Movement.
“I thought it was so much I should’ve done that could have prevented it. I didn’t think it was rape because I thought it was my fault, but I knew I felt disgusting. Empty. Disposable. Violated. Sick. Traumatized. Alienated.
“I did not understand why I was feeling the way I was feeling. I started feeling a heavy weight on my spirit every morning.

And her social ass, outgoing ass, my mom is my best friend headass was choosing to go through it alone.
“A month may sound like a short amount of time, but each day of darkness felt like it’s own eternity.”
Braxton, who was also a social media influencer, went on to explain how she couldn’t get out of bed, stopped going to class and lost her appetite following the ordeal.
“All I wanted to do was sleep, but I couldn’t bring myself to believe that all my ambitious ass really wanted to do was sleep,” she said in the 2018 piece.
Braxton opened up about her rape ordeal on her sister’s blog [/caption] She said she wanted try and help other women who had been sexually assaulted[/caption]She said she started to come to terms with what happened to her after sharing her experience with her eldest sister and mom.
“The day I told my oldest sister, a dark cloud cleared in my life,” she wrote.
“I found it in myself to accept the fact that I was not okay & that was okay.
“I cried about what happened to me and I cried about all the turmoil that came after, for the first time.
“She made me realize it was NOT my fault and I could NOT blame myself for what happened.
“I could NOT blame myself for being alone with a rapist disguised as a big brother figure. I could NOT blame myself for being raped.”
She added: “A couple days after I told her, I told my mom. After telling those two, I felt drastically different.”
Braxton gained thousands of fans in 2017 with her music project VERSE(atility)[/caption] Dozens of family members and friends have paid tribute to Braxton online [/caption]Braxton posted the article to her Instagram page saying it was “better than any song” she had written and telling of her hope it would help heal other women.
“It took so much out of me to complete this article because my experience w/ sexual assault was only a few months prior,” she posted on Instagram.
“This is better than any song I’ve ever written. My best work, yet.
“Anyone who’s ever been taken advantage of. Anyone who didn’t know how to feel after. Anyone who still doesn’t know how to feel. This is for you. For you to relate, heal, and grow.
“I prayed over this article countless times, if it heals even just one.. my prayers have been answered.”
Poignantly, on Friday, just one day after her death, a female Instagram user wrote under the 2018 post: “This article saved me. May your soul Rest In Peace.”
The circumstances surrounding Braxton’s death are still unknown.
Braxton’s family were unavailable for comment when contacted by The Sun on Friday.
However on social media, her grieving mom Letricia penned an emotional tribute to her daughter alongside a touching memorial video.

“At the time of her ascendance she laid in sacred form. There were no scratches there were no bruises, her internal and external being was completely pure.
“It was a spiritual release. God retrieved the angel He loaned us.
“Braxton was in spiritual retreat, carefully crafting and curating her art. She has since dedicated her art to humanity and healing, composing two albums and three novels.”
Letricia continued: “Most recently she was in the process of forming her brand merging her loves for fashion, and the work of Black queer revolutionary womxn.
“Braxton knew that God was working through her, she had ‘vessel’ and ‘gifted’ permanently placed on her body.
“She knew that her brilliance and art would be shared with the world in God’s timing.”

Letricia ended her post by saying “this is just the beginning,” as she plans to dedicate her “whole being” to sharing her daughter’s work with the world.
