Ariana Grande’s ‘Positions’ Album Voted as This Week’s Fan Favorite New Music
Ariana Grande has topped Billboard’s new music poll for a second week in a row.
Last week, the 27-year-old pop superstar topped the tally with her latest single “Positions,” and this week she holds the No. 1 spot with her new album of the same title.
Music fans voted in a poll published Friday (Oct. 30) on Billboard, choosing Grande’s sixth studio album, Positions, as their favorite new music release of the past week.
The singer’s 14-track set brought in 55 percent of the vote, beating out new music by Sam Smith (Love Goes), Harry Styles (“Golden”), Dua Lipa featuring Angèle (“Fever”) and Cam (The Other Side), among others.
Positions was released Friday through Republic and features guest appearances by Doja Cat, The Weeknd and Ty Dolla $ign. The album follows 2019’s Thank U, Next, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Prior to dropping Positions, Grande kept busy by adding to her growing collection of No. 1 hits, thanks to high-profile collaborations with Lady Gaga (“Rain On Me”) and Justin Bieber (“Stuck With U”).
Placing second on the this week’s new music poll was Smith’s third album, Love Goes, which was delayed for months because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Featuring previously released singles “Diamonds” and “My Oasis” with Burna Boy, Smith recently revealed to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe that Love Goes is their first “proper heartbreak” record.
“I’d say [this was] the first proper time I’ve been actually heartbroken. That feeling of they’re gone, you can’t sleep, the really, really bad feeling,” the singer said. “The others were the idea of it and it was pure unrequited love. This, I would like to say that we loved each other. So, I definitely, definitely loved him. So yeah, it was proper.”
