Betrayed In West, Kiev Regime Tries To Find Love In Turkish Arms

Jewish Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky awards Turkish President with the order named after Russian Prince Yaroslav the Wise

After years of the aggressive propaganda about the supposed ‘European path’ of the current Kiev regime, even most vocal Western supporters of this narrative seem to be not interested in the fate of the Ukrainian state. After the 2014 coup, Ukraine was turned into a colony of the Washington establishment and the European bureaucracy and empty words cannot change this. In own turn, Kiev, which still makes ritual statements about the partnership with the West and carefully follows orders from its foreign masters is barely able to convince Ukrainian citizens that somebody in the West is really interested to push Ukraine towards the bright future. So, the time for new ‘good friends’ has come.

In this conditions, the Kiev regime turned towards Turkey, which is happy to use the situation in Ukraine and the factor of Crimea (which Turkey has for years wanted to seize or at least turn into its sphere of influence using the ‘Crimean Tatars’ factor) to create some additional points of pressure on its partners in Moscow and improve its negotiating positions in a variety of economic, diplomatic and military questions.

On Friday 16, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky met in Istanbul, held talks and pelged to develop their “strategic partnership in every field in which they have mutual benefits”.

Commenting on the current state of the Turkish-Ukrainian relations, the Turkish leader said the two countries have been taking steps for a trade volume of 10 billion U.S. dollars shortly, noting the recent developments in the field of tourism are promising. The leaders also agreed to conclude the free trade agreement negotiations between the two countries in short order.

“Despite the global pandemic, we hosted more than 500,000 Ukrainian guests this year, which clearly shows the closeness among our peoples and the trust of our Ukrainian guests in the measures we have taken as part of our safe tourism initiative,” Erdogan said.

Zelensky, for his part, said the number of Turkish companies involved in infrastructure projects in Ukraine should increase.

“I would like to note that we have very similar approaches regarding the energy investments,” he said.

However, what is more important is the growing military and security cooperation between the states. Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Taran and President of Defense Industries of Turkey İsmail Demir signed a Memorandum of Intent between the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Presidency of Defense Industries of the Republic of Turkey on the projects in the defense-industrial sphere.

According to Ukrainian 112 TV channel:

The memorandum enshrines the desire of Ukraine and Turkey to develop their defense-industrial programs and strengthen defense capabilities, as well as to establish mutually beneficial long-term cooperation based on mutual respect and consideration of each other’s interests. The document outlines the intentions of the parties to launch and implement joint projects for the construction of warships, UAVs and all types of turbine engines.

Also sides signed a Framework Military Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Turkey. The agreement is concluded in order to create a legal basis for the expansion and deepening of existing Ukrainian-Turkish cooperation in the field of defense, as well as defines the procedure for such cooperation. The document, in particular, defines the areas of cooperation, principles of cooperation, security regime of classified information, the procedure for exchanging intelligence information, legal regulation of the activity of specialists seconded by each party, compensation for possible damages, dispute resolution, etc.

Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine and Turkey “have a common vision of further cooperation in the field of security and defense, in particular security in the Black Sea and the implementation of Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic course.”

Earlier in October, it became known that Ukraine was planning to buy multiple Bayraktar TB2 combat drones from Turkey. The Ministry of Defense reportedly planned to purchase 6-12 Bayraktar TB2 control stations and 3-4 drones for each complex.

“So, Ukraine plans to receive 48 drones, which the Ministry of Defense plans to put into service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the general director of the company “Ukrspetsexport”  Vadim Nozdrya said.

The deepening military and economic ties between Turkey and Ukraine come amid the increasing Turkish influence in propaganda and social sphere. The current variant of the so-called Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, currently based in Kiev and focused on spreading propaganda about the supposed persecutions of Crimean Tatars by Russia, has become an integral part of the Kiev regime propaganda regarding the future of Crimea if one day Kiev appears to be able to return it. At the same time, this organization has for years been acting as an agent of Turkish influence in Ukraine and has wide ties with various Turkish structures, including intelligence services.

In these conditions, the reaction of the ‘independent’ Orthodox Church of Ukraine (created in late 2018, early 2019 thanks to joint efforts of the Ukrainian government, the Washington establishment and the Constantinople Patriarchate) is so silent regarding the turning of Hagia Sophia into a mosque. Its leadership as well as Bartholomew I of Constantinople are more concerned by keeping good relations with the Erdogan government and trying to use the religious factor to increase own wealth rather than by pushing forward the interests of the Orthodox World. No surprise, Bartholomew I regularly complains about some ‘destructive’ influence of the Russian Orthodox Church because it does not support his political adventures and opportunism.

On the other hand, for Kiev, its pseudo patriots and pseudo-church structures that support them, there is nothing new in selling the country’s resources, national interests and even sovereignty for some own financial gains or a nice PR that could be used in the internal political games. So, there are little doubts that Mr. Erdogan will find a lot of ways to make a nice ‘friendship’ with his friends in Kiev.
