Pilot killed after plane crashes in Lake District as investigation launched
A PILOT has died after the plane he was flying crashed in the Lake District this afternoon, police have said.
The man, who has not been named, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash just north of Troutbeck, Cumbria.

A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: “The single occupant of the aircraft, a man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“There were no other casualties.”

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has been contacted and a cordon put in place around the site, the spokesman added.
