One of my favorite pairs of tights are these soft, comfortable, and durable ones from a new brand called Heist. I like that it comes in both mid and high waistbands, neither of which roll or twist into my skin and make me regret putting on tights that morning. These tights have been my go-to pair since I first put them on. They're durable enough to withstand my none-too-gentle handling and soft enough to be worn all day comfortably. The Morandi Sweater is just the garment to have on hand when I need an extra layer ... which is all the time because our office is an icebox. It's made of a super-soft and machine-washable Merino wool and comes in five nice, neutral colors. It has a subtle shawl collar that lends it more structure and a kimono-inspired silhouette that looks good whether you wrap the tie around your waist, leave it undone, or tie it up in the back. I tend to wear mine open.

Let me begin by saying that I am extremely picky when it comes to jeans, and that I didn't want to like Everlane's Authentic Stretch denim. (People loved Everlane's debut denim line, I did not). However, I've come to rely on my own black pair more than any other in my closet for work, weekends, and even plane rides— I could perform an Olympic gymnastics routine and they would retain their shape. I wear and wash them many, many times throughout the season and am consistently impressed by how well they hold up compared to tights from other brands. It's oversized and so cozy — which is pretty impressive considering it's been through decades of washings. Organic Cotton Quilt Snap-T Pullover, available at Patagonia, $149

I wear this Patagonia sweater as often as humanly possible in the fall and winter. It was the first piece of clothing I ever tried from Patagonia (we always remember our firsts!) and it started a lifelong obsession with the brand's cozy sweaters. This one is incredibly soft and comfortable, and the snap-T front lets me open it up for some breathing room if I get too overheated while laying around on the couch. As far as sizing goes, I sized up to make sure it would be roomy, which I highly recommend doing. The Super Puff Long, available at Aritzia, $350

Aritzia's famous Super Puff coat has become its own brand within a brand, and it's not just because it looks cool. It's actually the best winter coat I've ever owned. It fits really well: The arms aren't super long or bulky, the coat isn't weirdly tight in the armpits, the way it falls doesn't make it look like an A-line dress). And, most importantly, it actually keeps me warm in windy, freezing cold weather. 

The one downside is that it holds onto a bit of moisture, so I try not to wear it when it snows, but that has more to do with the material finish I chose than the coat itself. I swear by these insulated Hunter rain boots in the fall and winter. They look just like Hunter's regular rain boots but they feature a vegan sherpa lining that's warm and toasty even on slushy, snowy, or icy days out and about. I also put shearling insoles in my boots for additional warmth as the weather gets colder, so I can stretch their utility from season to season.
