We Have a Roster
Here’s a fun playoff fact- The Marlins have never lost a playoff series. Think about that.
The Yankees have announced their wild card roster and they are carrying 13 pitchers to navigate three games. They are also carrying three catchers. I suspect that means they may try an opener in a possible game three, but they brought five starters to this party, so they could go that route too.
The other surprise is that Mike Ford is on the roster and that Andujar is not. Ford was hidden from LHP this year with 66/74 ABs against RHP and he still hit .135. He’s not a great glove and he only plays first, so what does he offer? Not much other than being a lefty, but as I mentioned, that didn’t help this year.
And I’m not shocked by the lineup. Sanchez isn’t catching, so he’s on the bench. Stanton is at DH and Gardner is in left. Clint Frazier was ice cold to end the season, and facing Bieber isn’t a great way to break a slump. Weather looks ok in Cleveland tonight, but tomorrow and Thursday could be dicey.
