Chargers CB Chris Harris Jr. out a month with foot injury
Chargers cornerback Chris Harris Jr. confirmed reports that he’ll be out at least a month because of a foot injury.
“Grind don’t stop, see y’all in a month,” Harris said Tuesday on his social media accounts.
Harris injured his foot during the third quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers. Harris had his cleat caught on the SoFi Stadium turf while Panthers players landed on his foot.
Harris told NFL reporter Josina Anderson he’s expecting the foot to heal within four to six weeks.
The Chargers will likely place Harris on injured reserve. The crowded injury list already holds key starters safety Derwin James, center Mike Pouncey, linebacker Drue Tranquill, edge rusher Melvin Ingram and defesnvei tackle Justin Jones.
James, Pouncey and Tranquill aren’t expected back this season. Wide receiver Mike Williams and offensive linemen Trai Turner and Bryan Bulaga are also dealing with injuries.
Desmond King will likely replace Harris as the starting slot cornerback.
Harris, a four-time Pro Bowl cornerback, was signed in free agency to provide depth for the Chargers in the secondary. Now, the Chargers are thin there along with many other positions.
