Vogelbach’s power hurts Royals in 5-3 loss to Brewers
Keller was burned twice by him.
In the series finale with the Brewers on Sunday, the Royals were out-homered in a 5-3 loss.
Brad Keller earned the start for the Royals after coming off a complete game shutout last time out. However, he was tagged for a pair of runs in the bottom of the first.
Daniel Vogelbach, who recently joined Milwaukee, pounded a two-run homer to dead center field to give the Brewers a 2-0 lead.
Similar to Saturday’s loss, Kansas City’s offense couldn’t get much going. Josh Lindblom managed to hold the Royals scoreless through the first five innings.
After the Vogelbach home run, Keller settled into his groove. The right-hander stifled Brewers hitters over the next four innings.
Kansas City finally got on the board in the top of the sixth. Erick Mejia collected his first hit of the season on a opposite field double to jumpstart the inning. Two batters later, Whit Merrifield drove him home on a RBI-groundout.

But Vogelbach struck again in the home half of the sixth. With two runners on, Vogelbach took Keller deep to give the Brewers a comfortable four-run lead.
in the top of the ninth, Salvador Perez clubbed a two-run homer to pull within two runs. But they couldn’t tack on anymore.
Kansas City, now 21-32, will head home to finish up the season with a seven-game home stand. First up is the Tigers on Monday. Carlos Hernandez will get the nod. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. CDT
