Crawford-Brook targeted for Nov. 14 in Vegas
Crawford has not fought since December of last year.
Looks like “Special K” had the time frame right.
Top Rank’s Todd duBoef tells Sky Sports that there are “advanced” negotiations between WBO welterweight champ Terence Crawford and former IBF champ Kell Brook, plus an “earmarked” date and working location.
“It makes sense for both fighters. We’re eyeing a November date if it can get done. November 14 is earmarked as the date. The location, as of now, is Las Vegas in a studio-type environment. There was talk of going to Omaha, where Crawford is from, in an intimate setting with some fans. We’re weighing it up. First we’ve got to see if we can put the match together. Then the venue.”
Both Eddie Hearn and Brook (39-2, 27 KO) himself had already spoken positively about the fight’s chances.
If they do indeed push this over the finish line, it will be Crawford’s (36-0, 27 KO) first bout since a gritty victory over Egidijus Kavaliauskas last December and Brook’s first appearance at 147 since a grueling 2017 loss to Errol Spence Jr. It ain’t exactly the ideal matchup for a pound-for-pound standout, but with nearly the entirety of the modern welterweight elite fighting under other banners, it’s probably the best we can get.
