Victoria Beckham Opens Up About Why She Always Wore Tight Clothes In The Past
Victoria Beckham is opening up about her past fashion choices and revealing that the tight clothes she once wore was a sign of insecurity.
During a piece for The Guardian, the 46-year-old former singer and now fashion designer talked about the looks she wore was “a sign of insecurity that I would always wear clothes that were very tight, very fitted.”
Victoria continued that now, her “confidence has definitely grown as I’ve got older.”
“I used to wear lots of structured dresses with corsetry and I still have some of those dresses, but my personal style has become more relaxed,” she adds.
Now, her fashion is 100% authentic to who she is: “I know what works on me, what looks good. I don’t feel I have anything to prove now in the way I dress.”
Victoria might not love what she wore then, but she’s still inspired by that era when creating pieces for her brand.
“The color, the simple shapes. There probably isn’t a designer who isn’t inspired by that decade,” Victoria says. “For me, it’s not so much about the street fashion of the 90s, but Martin Margiela, and Jil Sander. Not just the collections, but the shows, the models, the music.”
Earlier this month, Victoria released a statement about her brand supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.
