Westworld season 3 finale post-credits scene sees Man in Black finally get his comeuppance in host clone murder twist
WESTWORLD wrapped up its third season with a finale of explosive proportions.
The dystopian drama ended its latest string of episodes with the dawn of a bloody revolution after Caleb (Aaron Paul) and Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) managed to reprogram Delos’ master AI Solomon.
The latest episode, Crisis Theory, filled in some crucial backstory, with Caleb learning that Dolores sought him out after he saved her from being raped by his fellow soldiers during a training exercise.
It turned out Delos had used one of their parks for military simulations and after rescuing a band of civilian hosts, Caleb’s squad attempted to sexually assault the woman as a twisted form of payment, but fortunately he was able to stop them.
It was this sense of moral rigour that ultimately led Dolores to trust Caleb to topple Delos.
Elsewhere in the episode we saw LA thrown into chaos after the algorithm that regulated crime, singled out “outliers” and effectively wrote humans’ futures was turned on its head.

Towards the end of the episode, William (Ed Harris), aka The Man in Black, attempted to make his way into a Delos research station to turn things around.
In a major twist, he bumps into none other than Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson).
Charlotte died in the Westworld host uprising, but her body was recreated in host form by Dolores and programmed with one of her mind cores in a bid to infiltrate Delos.
However, she was later blown up by a car bomb after being rooted out during a Delos executive lockdown.
As such, Charlotte bumping into William seems to make no sense, and to add fuel to the fire, she is then joined by a doppelgänger of William himself.
Given his contempt for the hosts, William coming face to face with his own AI counterpart is nothing short of his worst nightmare.
He finds himself so overwhelmed with horror that he’s unable to gun down his AI later ego and instead stands idly by while his throat is slit.
The chaos doesn’t stop there, as a post-credits scene sees Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) return from a trip to “The Subline” aka “The Valley Beyond,” which is essentially a digital heaven for hosts.

How he got there in the first place, let alone made his way back, remains a mystery.
It’s also unclear how long he’s been away for and the state the world is in upon his return.
Still with season 4 already confirmed, no doubt all these questions will be tackled next year when the drama returns.
Westworld season 3 is available to stream in full on NOW TV.
