Brian Dennehy mourned by Riverdale’s Lili Reinhart as ‘kind and incredible’ after actor’s sudden death
RIVERDALE actress Lili Reinhart is mourning the loss of her former co-star Brian Dennehy, who died Wednesday night at 81.
The two worked together on a pilot for an Amazon TV show called Cocked a few years ago, though it was never picked up to series.
Lili, 23, who now stars as Betty Cooper on the popular CW drama Riverdale, shared a photo of them together in a scene from the show, where they reportedly were playing grandfather and granddaughter.
She wrote alongside the picture: “I had the privilege of working with Brian Dennehy on a pilot years ago.
“He was so kind and incredible at his craft. My thoughts are with his family”
Brian’s survived by his wife Jennifer Arnott and five children — including actress Elizabeth Dennehy, who shared the news of her father’s death earlier today on social media.
The 59-year-old Charmed alum wrote: “It is with heavy hearts we announce that our father, Brian passed away last night from natural causes, not Covid-related.
“Larger than life, generous to a fault, a proud and devoted father and grandfather, he will be missed by his wife Jennifer, family and many friends.”
TMZ reports there will not be an autopsy because his death, which occurred Wednesday night in Connecticut, was of natural causes.
Aside from his Amazon pilot, Brian had worked on a long list of acting projects since he first began in the business in the 1970s.

He most famously played Big Tom in 1995’s Tommy Boy, alongside David Spade and the late Chris Farley.
Some of his other major roles included Teasle in First Blood, Cobb in Silverado, Django in Ratatouille and Dominic Wilkinson on The Blacklist.
He was also a two-time Tony award winner — once for his role in Death of a Salesman and once for his work in Long Day’s Journey Into Night.
