Official 2020 Fantasy F1 is Here...Launch thread

Welcome to the 2020 Fantasy F1 Competition,

There are a few minor changes this season, relating to the Joker rounds, and also a refinement of the penalties which should simplify scoring.

Any questions please feel free to ask them, better to resolve any issue early than after they have happened.

Season long Teams:
As is tradition, your team shall be made up of 2 drivers, 1 constructor and a Power Unit

All 4 components of your team must have a combined value of 100,000 or less, and cannot fall into the following real work situations at the start of the season.

Your Drivers must be from separate constructors
Your drivers cannot drive for your constructor’s chassis
Your drivers cannot drive your Power Unit
Your constructor cannot be powered by your Power Unit Provider

Please submit your team in the usual fashion shown in the attachments.

Remember each team must be unique so please refresh the page and check that someone hasn’t jumped in whilst you have been deciding and taken your choice. If a duplicate team is entered the latter entrant will be asked to re-select.

Entry:
All Entries are to be submitted onto this thread
To be included for the full season, the entry must be on record before the start of FP1 of the opening event.
Entries are welcome at any time however if an event is underway the entry will be included for the next event. *

Joker events
In Joker rounds, the rules are relaxed to allow a bit of strategy. The use of a Joker is completely optional.

This season up to 4 jokers can be played, the difference is that there are only 2 joker periods across the season. The Jokers can if you wish, be played at consecutive events within the period, BUT you cannot have 3 Jokers run consecutively across the 2 Joker periods.

The Joker periods cover the following events:
Joker 1: Bahrain, Vietnam, The Netherlands, Spain, Azerbaijan, Canada, France, Austria & Great Britain
Joker 2: Hungary, Belgium, Italy, Singapore, Russia, Japan, USA, Mexico & Brazil

Should an event be cancelled or removed from/ Rescheduled into the calendar, any joker submitted for that round will be voided with the team being allowed to play it again if they wish within that period. However, if it’s the final round of the period that is cancelled or removed from the calendar, the use of that Joker is lost as the period will be closed.

Should China, or any other race be rescheduled, the rescheduled event remains excluded from the Joker selections.

Joker Teams:
A Joker team is one in which you can swap out either or both of your constructor or Power Unit providers, but you may not make a driver change for that event.
On these events you are allowed to break the real world rules however your team must still comply with the budget rules.
When playing your Joker your team may be a duplicate of an existing Season long team or another entrant’s joker team
At the end of a Joker event your team will unless indicated as below revert back to its season long combination.
To play a Joker; You must post your Joker team as per the table below, in the designated thread within the F1 Predictions and contests area^ before the start of an event and indicate the duration of the Joker. - That means before the start of FP1* in the same way as been done historically with driver changes.

Consecutive Jokers:
If it’s your intention to run the same Joker combination at consecutive events, then you can indicate this on posting your notification ahead of the first of those events. Otherwise, please post a new joker notification with the different selection ahead of the second event.

I will endeavour to post confirmation and acceptance of Jokers being played, however if I am unable to do so, I will use to timestamp of the post to validate the change.

^This is to avoid confusion with duplicate team combinations or driver substitutions.

Scoring:
Qualification:
The points scoring remain the same as last season.
Firstly, for drivers, reaching Q2 will be rewarded by 1 point, a further 1 point will be gained by going on to set a time in Q2. The same goes for reaching and setting times in Q3. The bonuses for 2nd row on grid, 2nd place and Pole have been reduced to a max of 8 points. A reminder these points are based on times only.
For Constructors and power unit providers (first 2 cars regardless of constructor) 1 point per car will be awarded for reaching Q2 and likewise for Q3. Bonus points will be scored for pole and second place on grid. Max for locking out front row would be 10 points.
Race:
The race points will be awarded as per previous seasons and based on the official results. Therefore, it is possible that a car which doesn’t take the chequered flag will be adjudged to have finished the race and will receive race completion points.

Bonuses:
Bonus points remain as last year with only the fastest lap receiving a 5-point bonus for the Driver, with 3 Points each for the constructor and the power unit provider. The bonus for Gain/loss of places will be decided between the official Result and the Official Start Grid.
Therefore, should an incident or car failure occur on the way to the grid or during the formation lap, which prevents participation in the race, this will be considered a Lap 0 racing incident as dealt with accordingly (accident or Tech DNF).

The points distribution for Drivers, Constructors and Power Units for both Qualification and the Race are shown in the attachments.

There are no changes to the allocation of points during Joker rounds.

Penalties:
The Technical DNF penalty remains as previous years with a 5 point penalty awarded against both the Constructor and the Power Unit provider, the driver is not specifically penalised although he will lose out on the Gain/loss.

Sporting or Technical infringements penalised by the race stewards during the event will be incorporated as appropriate – grid position penalty, time penalty etc.
In keeping with changes to the F1 penalty rules, where penalties totalling more than 15 places result in a pitlane start, this has now been incorporated into penalty points sliding scale and can been seen in the attachments below.
Should a team break Parc Ferme resulting in a pitlane start, the same penalty will be applied.
If a car fails on the grid and can join the now started race from pitlane, the loss of track position is sufficient penalty.

Substitutions and Replacements:
You may make driver changes at any point in the season except events in which you are playing a Joker.
If your driver is replaced, the replacement driver will automatically go into your team - this can happen at a Joker event.
If you don’t want the replacement driver, and you are not playing a Joker, then the option is there to substitute.
If the replacement Driver now breaks the real-world rules, this wasn’t your choice and so will be allowed to continue for the remainder of the season.
Should a driver change teams during the season and now breaks the real-world rules, your team will be allowed to continue for the remainder of the season.

Driving Bans.
Should under the licence points system your driver be banned for a race or more, the replacement driver will NOT score you points in that/those races. Your team will be scored on the remaining driver, constructor & power unit only.
You can choose however to substitute out the banned driver before the start of the event (beginning FP1) he is banned from Remember you can change a driver or play a Joker but not both at the same event.

A first Substitution is free, each additional change you wish to make will cost 20 points per driver.

Substitutions must be on record that is posted in this thread before the start of FP1 of the next event to be included*

Attendance
Given current Global conditions relating to Coronavirus, this will be adjudged by discretion and discussed with fellow mods to ensure fairness.

A constructor’s attendance will be considered as being at the circuit with Garage built up before the start of FP1 of an event.
Non-attendance from the start of the season results in 0 points for Constructor and Power Unit prover, together with any named drivers.

Once a constructor has attended an event any further non-attendances will be considered DNQ Not allowed to Race with the appropriate penalty applied for each car.

Withdrawn from event:
Should a team withdraw one car from before FP1 begins for budgetary/political purposes, Driver, Constructor and Team will receive DNQ and Not Allowed to Race penalty.
If a car is withdrawn after FP1
Due to driver injury with no replacement available or is unable to complete necessary laps, there will be No penalty against either of the Driver, constructor or PU provider.
Due to perceived safety issue, insufficient time or parts to rebuild the car safely, then a DNQ allowed to race penalty is applied to driver, constructor and power unit provider. However, if the car took part in any part of Qualifying, any points from this will be kept.

* The closing time for a team to be entered or substitution to be included in an event is the start of FP1.
I will endeavour to post confirmation and acceptance of team’s substitutions etc before each event, but where time zones or other reasons prevent me doing so, I will use the timestamps on the post and accept any notification if it fulfils the other rules.

Should there be anything that happens out with the above rules, I will consult with the site admin and fellow Moderators and come up with a fair ruling that can be applied across the remainder of the season.

**I've delayed launching this season until now, given the volatile nature of events around the world, the very real impact that's its having not just to motorsports events but to everyone.
As I've said I'll do my best to ensure fairness and should I need to post any official announcements they will either been here in the launch thread, or if merits a thread of its own, with a post within the main F1 section highlighting an announcement so everyone can see it.**

With that the required information is listed below, and good luck to all entrants.
