Launceston: A Walker’s Paradise
Set in the depths of the beautiful countryside, walkers will be spoilt for choice when visiting Launceston. Whether you are looking to take a short stroll or planning a long distance hike, Launceston and the surrounding areas have plenty of trails to choose from; and Trethorne makes for the perfect place to relax and unwind after a long day out exploring.
The Two Castles Trail
This 24 mile way marked route flows between Okehampton and Launceston Castles. The walk meanders through rolling countryside full of history, a perfect day out in the sun! You can find out more about the specifics of the route here. https://www.visitdartmoor.co.uk/things-to-do/two-castles-trail-p1159233
The Discovery trail
The Discovery Trail has been a flagship recreational trail in the Tamar Valley for over 10 years. Linking Launceston to the city of Plymouth, this gorgeous country walk spans over 35 miles. Do you think you’d have enough energy left for a spot of shopping in Plymouth before heading back!?
Lydford Gorge
Just a 25 minute drive from Trethorne, Lydford Gorge is the definition of natural beauty. The steep-sided wooded gorge hidden on the western fringe of Dartmoor inspires many myths and legends. It’s no wonder with features such as the 30-metre Whitelady Waterfall and a turbulent pot hole called the Devil’s Cauldron.
The beaches of North Cornwall
Trethorne is perfectly situated a few miles from the rugged beauty and open spaces of the moors of Bodmin and Dartmoor- and less than a 30 minute drive from the beaches of North Cornwall.
When you’re done exploring the sandy shores, why not dine overlooking the 18th Green in our fantastic restaurant at the Trethorne Golf Club? It’s open to guests 7 days a week and the food is served from 7am until 9pm. The perfect opportunity to warm up and wind down after exploring the surroundings.
Furry friends are welcome
We know that many holiday makers or seasoned locals love to let their furry friends gallop alongside them in the Cornish country air- and with the amount of beautiful trails and open spaces in and around Launceston, it’s easy to see why so many people bring their dogs on holiday too.
We understand that your dog is just another member of the family; so we are delighted to say that dogs are welcome at Trethorne Golf Club and Hotel.
Not just for walkers
Trails aren’t just for walkers- and that’s why we offer a tailored ‘cycling break’ https://www.trethornegolfclub.com/hotel/great-cycling-breaks/ accommodation package.
