He became the fifth person to die in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody since October, a source told Buzzfeed News.
ICE has expanded the number of people it detains to record levels under President Donald Trump.
Figures released last month revealed the agency was now holding nearly 41,000 immigrants.
However, whistle-blowers have claimed many are receiving “substandard” care while in custody.
And the medical care in ICE detention has come under scrutiny by federal officials in recent weeks.
It was even alleged one inmate became so unstable he slashed his own penis and required surgery.
In December, Anthony Oluseye Akinyemi, 56, died in immigration custody, just days after he was convicted of a sex attack.
The Nigerian was found unresponsive in his cell at the Worcester County Jail in Snow Hill, Maryland.

The official cause of death was not immediately determined, but authorities believe he took his own life by strangling himself.
At the time of his death, Akinyemi was in removal proceedings and was facing deportation back to his home country.
ICE has yet to comment on the latest death in custody.
