“We are comfortable in saying now that the mother is responsible for the death of her children,” said Phoenix Police Department Sgt. Mercedes Fortune.
The kids – a seven-month-old girl, a two-year-old girl, and a three-year-old boy – were found in a living room area near the front door of the home at 7:30pm Monday, cops told local CBS affiliate AZ family.
Officers were told the children were “ill” earlier on in the day, Fortune said.
She added that the children showed no obvious signs of trauma.
Authorities said they received an “unknown trouble call” from a relative of the children on Monday night.
When cops arrived at the home in Phoenix, they were allegedly greeted by the 22-year-old mother, the children’s father, and a third relative.
The youngsters lived inside this home with their parents and two other relatives[/caption]

All three youngsters were found unresponsive, according to police.
Officers performed CPR on the little children but they were pronounced dead by paramedics.
First responders found it difficult to witness the horrific crime scene.
Fire crews who responded allegedly didn’t work for the rest of the night because they were so traumatized by the harrowing incident, Fortune said.
Police were still interviewing the father and another relative who lives at the home, law enforcement officials said.
The kids resided with their parents and two other adults, according to Fortune.
