Basketball standings, schedules, scores
Expanded standings, schedules and scores have ben updated for men’s Region XIV and Region V basketball through games of Saturday, Jan. 18.
Unbeaten, sixth-ranked Tyler dodged a bullet Saturday in Corsicana to remain the only undefeated squad in both regions. Last Wednesday in Region V, unranked Temple fell from the unbeaten list as Collin posted an 82-79 win in Plano.
Also from Region V, NTJCAC leader Ranger regained the NJCAA’s No. 1 ranking. Coach Billy Gillispie’s Rangers (19-1) extended their winning streak to four with lopsided wins at home over Southwestern Christian and on the road Saturday against Hill at Hillsboro.
Looming on Wednesday is an NTJCAC showdown in Temple between the Rangers and coach Kirby Johnson’s 17-1 Leopards.
Region V WJCAC leader Clarendon (17-1) added wins over Frank Phillips and at New Mexico Junior College, looking to improve on its No. 8 ranking. The Bulldogs, which have won 13 consecutive games, host Odessa and play at Midland this week.
In Region XIV East, Navarro has an open date Wednesday before it travels to Paris to face the Dragons at The Hunt Center on Saturday at the same time Tyler and Kilgore (16-3) battle at KC’s Masters Gymnasium.
