Dancing With The Stars’ Louis van Amstel furious after teacher tells his son having two dads is ‘a sin’
Louis van Amstel took to Instagram to express his anger after a substitute teacher apparently told his son that homosexuality is a sin.
The Dancing With the Stars pro talked about the incident which happened at his son’s school before the Thanksgiving break.
When a substitute teacher asked the kids what they were thankful for this year, his son Daniel said he was thankful that he was being adopted by his two dads.
The teacher’s response shocked everyone.
Louis recounts the story: “The substitute teacher was giving her very clear opinion about two men is wrong; homosexuality is wrong.”
“Yeah, so you can imagine that set us off, and we are not letting this go.”
Apparently the teacher went on a 10 minute rant about how homosexuality is a sin, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
But it wasn’t Daniel who told on the teacher.
Louis told his followers that his 11-year-old son didn’t say anything because he didn’t want to get the teacher in trouble or for his dads to rethink their decision to adopt him.
Louis told the Salt Lake Tribune: “He was so fearful that this could make us think that we don’t want to adopt him.”
“That’s definitely not going to happen. But this situation really hurt him. This person really hurt us.”
Three girls from his class told the school principal what happened after they asked the teacher to stop criticizing Daniel’s parents.
He wrote alongside the video: “I’m proud of the three girls and [the] school for standing up for our family against this bully.”
“I’m disgusted that the bully is the teacher in a public.”
Following the shocking incident, the teacher was let go from the school.
He continued: “They said this woman is never going to teach in this school ever again.”
And even after she got in trouble, the teacher tried to defend herself and blamed Louis’s son for her insensitive rant.
Louis told the Salt Lake Tribune: “She […] told him that it was his fault that she went off.”

The incident happened in Deerfield Elementary School in Cedar Hills, Utah.
Louis married longtime partner, Joshua Lancaster, on January 2017 and is in the process of adopting his 11-year-old son, Daniel.
Louis was a professional dancer in Dancing With the Stars and the last time he was on the show was for season 21.
