Sparkling morning but very small
Hello Friends,
Just as I focused in on the point at 0730 a little set wave appeared and as you can see below, it looked plausible for a mal. But then it faded away and looking up the beach toward No Mans, it was apparent that conditions are very small at Dee Why this morning. On the other hand, the smoke is gone and thanks to overnight rain, Monday started off sparkling.
Wind was light and westerly to begin with, but it’ll go south this morning.
The MHL buoy was showing the main swell energy coming from the north this morning. It was 1.4 metres out at sea, but the period was a choppy 7 seconds – so no real surprise that it’s tiny.
Tide was high at 0810 and will back to low at 1440.
A quick scan of the ECM and Wavewatch models this morning shows both are projecting a week of short period and sub-1 metre swell conditions for Sydney…
Ah well, it’ll come back, so have a top old Monday and see you again tomorrow.

Weather Situation
A trough over the central part of the coast is heading towards north, bringing a southerly change in the wake. The trough is forecast to reach about Wooli by this afternoon before stalling and weakening. A more vigorous southerly change associated with a cold front looks set to enter the far south coast later Monday and early Tuesday, reaching the Queensland border by Tuesday afternoon. This frontal passage will bring the resurgence of southerly winds across the coast.
