Host South Korea defeats Cuba in new dome in warm up for Premier12

<p>SEOUL – World No. 8 South Korea sent five pitchers to the mound to shutout world No. 3 Cuba, 6-0, in the ceremonial first game in the nation’s new Gocheok Sky Dome.</p>
<p>Cuba’s offense was limited to four scattered singles, while South Korea gave an early thrill to the crowd of 14,000 by scoring the stadium’s first-ever runs. The host nation jumped out to a 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning and stung Cuba’s pitchers for 12 total hits.</p>
<p>The two nations are playing two ‘friendlies’ to tune up for the WBSC Premier12 global tournament, where the winner will earn U.S. 1.0 million in prize money.</p>
<p>South Korea will open their Premier12 against top-ranked Japan at the Sapporo Dome on Sunday, while Cuba will take on Canada next Wednesday, Nov. 10th at Taichung Intercontinental Stadium.</p>
