Chinese Taipei gets historic victory over Cuba in Premier12 global battle

<p>TAICHUNG, Taiwan — Chih-Sheng Lin’s three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning broke a 1-1 tie with Cuba and lifted Chinese Taipei to a historic 4-1 win against the world No. 3 Saturday night at the sold out 20,000-seat Intercontinental Stadium.</p>
<p>It was the Chinese Taipei Men’s National Team’s first victory against powerhouse Cuba at a world level event since the 1986 Baseball World Cup.</p>
<p>Lin, the 2015 CPBL MVP, has three home runs in the tournament, tied for the most with Canada’s Tyler O’Neil.</p>
<p>Both Chinese Taipei and Cuba have 2-2 records in Group A going into the final day of Opening Round competition.</p>
<p>Chinese Taipei can qualify into the quarterfinals with a win or a loss by Cuba on Sunday.</p>
<p>Chinese Taipei’s thrilling games in the Premie12 have generated record Television ratings in Taiwan for host broadcaster Videloland.</p>
