Golden Gate Fields offers party for Kentucky Derby
For horse-racing enthusiasts, the Kentucky Derby is the greatest two minutes in sports, and the best place in the Bay Area to watch it is Golden Gate Fields.
There are three categories in the free contest: funniest and most outrageous, best racing theme and most glamorous.
The Derby favorite at press time was American Pharoah at 13:5, followed by Dortmund at 4:1 and Carpe Diem at 5:1, according the Wynn Race & Sports book in Las Vegas.
With summer on the horizon, tracks at county fairs throughout Northern California are gearing up to host live horse races.
