Fancy dress was cited as the biggest cause of missing money – with 38 per cent blaming a lack of pockets in their stag or hen costumes.
Moving locations also led to parties being down on funds, with 20 percent saying the cash had vanished due to moving venue and almost a quarter saying miscommunication was to blame.
The survey of 2,000 18-40 year-olds, which was carried out by the social money app Pingit, also revealed the total number of lost kitties amounts to a staggering £206million each year.
Men contribute an average of £104 to each stag do kitty, compared to the £68 that women spend on hens.
The average hen or stag do kitty is worth a massive £928, so it is no surprise that nearly three quarters of Brits (73 percent) said they hate being the one left looking after the cash.
In total the average man forks out £7,997 across 11 stag dos in their lifetime while women enjoy ten hens at a cost of £5,510.
KEEP MONEY SAFE
To help keep money safe during these fun-filled celebrations, Pingit has developed fancy dress that party goers can pay with directly as each item contains a payment chip-ready chip sewn in.
Darren Foulds, Managing Director of Pingit, said: “Fancy dress is a simple and fun way to add to the festivities on a stag or hen – but it is also a key contributing factor for kitties going missing.
“Fancy dress continues to rise in popularity, with a 22 per cent increase since 2017, so we wanted to create a costume to help keep the kitty safe and the fun going.
“Pingit has also launched a new Jars functionality which allows users to put money in up to five jar accounts, perfect for organising and gaining more control over your spending.
“Over 58,000 Jars have already been created, especially for group events like stag and hen dos or holidays, so it’s clear that looking after our funds for these events is becoming increasingly important.”
