The Nation's Weather for Thursday, September 12, 2019
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Another day of sweltering heat and humidity is in store for
the Central and Southern states tomorrow, and many record
highs will be in jeopardy as temperatures soar to levels
more typical of July than September. A frontal boundary
separating the extreme heat from cooler air settling back
into the Northeast will be the focal point for showers and
thunderstorms from the Ohio Valley to the mid-Atlantic. A
storm system will bring heavy rain and storms to the Upper
Midwest and northern Plains. Some of the strongest storms
could produce gusty winds, and areas hit repeatedly by
downpours could face flash flooding concerns. Elsewhere,
storms will dot the Florida Peninsula and southern Plains,
while dry and generally sunny weather graces the West.
