Beers Dominates, Clams Sit 1.5 Games Back
Blake Beers turned in his best performance of the 2019 season on Monday night in a winning effort against the Holly Springs Salamanders.
The Clams defeated Holly Springs 6-2, moving to 24-23 on the year.
The Michigan product went 6.1 innings without allowing a run, striking out nine and surrendering just one hit. At one point, the right-hander retired 15 straight Salamanders en route to his second win of the season.
On the offensive side of the ball, Edenton was lead by Alex Alders who extended his hit streak to eight games with an RBI double in bottom of the third.
The Ohio native also left the yard for the 11th time this season with a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh.
Jake Evans went 3-for-4 with one RBI. It was the Binghamton product’s seventh multi-hit performance of this season.
Edenton is now 2-1 against Holly Springs.
The Clams now have 42 long balls at Historic Hicks Field and 58 total on the season.
The Teal and Black sit 1.5 games behind Peninsula for the second playoff spot from the North with 5 left.
Up next, Edenton makes its final regular season trip to Fleming Stadium to take on the Tobs on Tuesday night.
