Tobs Rally Late, Clams Sit One Game Back

The Edenton Steamers could not hold onto a one-run lead in the ninth as the Wilson Tobs rallied to score five runs and defeat the Clams 13-9.
It was a back and forth affair all evening long in a game that featured five lead changes and three ties.
Ian Walters continued his hot hitting, driving in a run on the first pitch he saw in the first inning.
Quincy Hamilton drove in a run in his 50th run of the season in the first inning. With that RBI Hamilton has set a new single season franchise record.
After one frame, Edenton lead 2-0.
Tobs knotted the game up at 2 in the top half of the second, lead by a solo homerun by Chris Meyers.
Wilson took their first lead of the game in the third when they scored two on an error by Edenton.
Rob Weissheier hit his fifth longball in the bottom half of the third to tie the game back up at 4.
Walters drove in a pair with his team-leading 18th double of the season to give the Clams a 6-4 lead.
Edenton extended their lead 8-4 heading into the 5th.
Christian Avant sent a homerun over the left field wall to tie the game at 8 with two outs in the top of the eight.
The Teal and Black were able to take the lead in the bottom half of the inning, 9-8.
The Tobs got their first two runners on the top of the ninth and Michael Calamari double to plate both runs and give Wilson the lead for good.
Jake Evans extended his hit streak to seven games.
Edenton now sits one game behind the Peninsula Pilots for the second playoff spot from the North.
Up next, the Clams travel to Holly Springs to take on the Salamanders for the final time this season.
