‘Blasphemous and pure evil’: Trump sparks outrage with image of himself as a Jesus-like healer
President Donald Trump is sparking outrage on his own Truth Social page after posting an image of himself healing a sick patient, with some claiming it’s “blasphemous” and “demonic” for what’s perceived as a comparison to Jesus.
Trump posted the image Sunday night without any personal comment, though it came hours after sharply criticizing Pope Leo XIV as “weak.”
Many commenters reacting to Trump’s image had harsh criticism.
“Why? Seriously, I cannot understand why he’d post this,” said Riley Gaines of Turning Point USA. “Is he looking for a response? Does he actually think this? Either way, two things are true. 1) a little humility would serve him well 2) God shall not be mocked.”
Others noted:
“It is portraying him as Christ. It is blasphemous. Demonic in nature. I’m sorry you can show yourself doing God’s work with out putting yourself in an image that has people that looks like they are praying to you, with you dressed in a way that depicts you as Jesus.”
“This is not a good look Mr. President.”
“It’s blasphemous and pure evil. Did you miss the winged three horned demon above Trump’s head?”
“This was not thought out, it’s in very poor taste to post this.”
“Mr. President, with all due respect. TAKE THIS DOWN. You are not Jesus. Even if this wasn’t the intention, This is not a good look, I do not support this and I know many others do not either. Remove it at once. You’ve probably already done too much damage with this meme. Give all honor, glory and praise to Jesus, but certainly NOT this. If it’s a staffer, fire them and offer an apology to Christians for this mockery.”
“Ah!! I don’t think so! They had only been one MAJESTY HEALER and He died for us. My King & Savior the Lord Jesus Christ! Now you’re my President of the United States of America! My Lord is the King of the World and beyond!”
Others, though, including Rev. Jordan Wells, founder of Christians Against Antisemitism Institute, was positive about the image, saying it shows Trump “answering God’s call.”
“Trump isn’t calling himself Jesus,” said Wells. “He’s been crystal clear from the beginning: he believes he’s doing the work God has set before him.”
“Jesus’ disciples healed the sick in His name. With Christ in us, we can do His works too. I have no problem with this – I lay hands on sick people and pray for them all the time.
“The people outraged by this are just looking for something to be mad about. Trump is openly praying for the sick – and as Protestants, we still believe in the power of prayer. It’s that simple.

The image used by Trump is similar to one originally posted by author Nick Adams on Feb. 4, who commented: “America has been sick for a long time. President Trump is healing this nation.”
Trump’s posting of the image came hours after the president verbally slammed Pope Leo XIV.
“Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy,” Trump began in a lengthy criticism. “He talks about ‘fear’ of the Trump Administration, but doesn’t mention the FEAR that the Catholic Church, and all other Christian Organizations, had during COVID when they were arresting priests, ministers, and everybody else, for holding Church Services, even when going outside, and being ten and even twenty feet apart.”
I like his brother Louis much better than I like him, because Louis is all MAGA. He gets it, and Leo doesn’t! I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon. I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s terrible that America attacked Venezuela, a Country that was sending massive amounts of Drugs into the United States and, even worse, emptying their prisons, including murderers, drug dealers, and killers, into our Country. And I don’t want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because I’m doing exactly what I was elected, IN A LANDSLIDE, to do, setting Record Low Numbers in Crime, and creating the Greatest Stock Market in History. Leo should be thankful because, as everyone knows, he was a shocking surprise. He wasn’t on any list to be Pope, and was only put there by the Church because he was an American, and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump. If I wasn’t in the White House, Leo wouldn’t be in the Vatican. Unfortunately, Leo’s Weak on Crime, Weak on Nuclear Weapons, does not sit well with me, nor does the fact that he meets with Obama Sympathizers like David Axelrod, a LOSER from the Left, who is one of those who wanted churchgoers and clerics to be arrested. Leo should get his act together as Pope, use Common Sense, stop catering to the Radical Left, and focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician. It’s hurting him very badly and, more importantly, it’s hurting the Catholic Church!
Pope Leo responded to Trump, saying, “I will not enter into debate. The things that I say are certainly not meant as attacks on anyone. The message of the Gospel is very clear: ‘Blessed are the peacemakers.'”
“I will not shy away from announcing the message of the Gospel and inviting all people to look for ways of building bridges of peace and reconciliation, and looking for ways to avoid war any time that’s possible.”
“I have no fear of the Trump administration,” the pontiff added.
