Yan Diomande namedrops Liverpool as Arne Slot’s men now have massive transfer incentive
Yan Diomande is keeping his future a matter of mystery amid ongoing links to the Premier League and Liverpool.
The Bundesliga hotshot is expected to make a mega-money move exit from the Bundesliga this summer following a remarkable debut campaign in Germany.

The Ivorian has registered 12 goals and eight assists in 31 appearances (across all competitions) in the 2025/26 season.
Yan Diomande giving nothing away amid Liverpool links
Diomande looks to be a high-priority target for Liverpool Football Club as we near the summer transfer window.

However, it’s reasonable to imagine that the Reds won’t be the only top European outfit in pursuit of the winger’s signature.
When speaking to Africa Foot, the 19-year-old said: “I’m here, and first and foremost, I’m healthy and working hard every day.
“Hearing these rumours about big clubs like PSG, Chelsea, Liverpool, and others interested in me gives me even more motivation to work. I keep smiling, stay upbeat, and keep pushing forward.
“My job is on the pitch, and I’m fully committed to my current club. As for the rest, I have a team that takes care of everything; I don’t stress about it. I play for Leipzig and enjoy it.”
As much as the teenager may claim he’s happy and settled in Leipzig, if you’re prepared to admit you’re motivated by transfer talk, the idea of a summer move must at least be partly on the mind.
The Mo Salah succession plan?
Our initial suspicions were that Diomande was being looked at to reinforce Liverpool’s rather uninspiring left flank.
Cody Gakpo, it seems, is unfit to take on the mantle of our starting left-sided winger following Luis Diaz’s summer switch to Bayern Munich.
However, with Rio Ngumoha emerging as a serious contender for more minutes in the backend of the season, we have to wonder how wise it would be to potentially block the teenager’s pathway.
| Yan Diomande’s Bundesliga stats | Percentiles |
| 0.27 non-penalty xG | 80th |
| 0.35 xA | 95th |
| 2.02 chances created | 83rd |
| 0.48 big chances created | 78th |
| 4.31 successful dribbles | 100th |
| 7.08 touches in the opposition box | 96th |
With Mo Salah set to depart this summer, however, this represents the perfect opportunity to inject fresh blood into the right wing without creating problems within the squad next term.
Although more naturally left-sided, it hasn’t gone unnoticed here at Empire of the Kop that Yan Diomande has featured primarily on the right in 2025/26.
Not to mention, he appears more than capable of providing impact with his weaker left foot.
It’s the perfect time to get a deal like this over the line. Of course, Diomande could be a pipe dream if we can’t first secure Champions League football.
