Pakistan launches rocket strikes in Afghanistan’s Kunar, locals say

The latest escalation comes after talks between Pakistani officials and Taliban representatives in Urumqi ended without agreement earlier this month.

Multiple rounds of negotiations between Pakistan and the Taliban, including efforts mediated by Qatar, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, have failed to resolve key disputes.

The main sticking point remains the presence of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan fighters in Afghanistan, with Islamabad accusing them of launching cross-border attacks, a claim denied by the Taliban.

Rising cross-border tensions highlight the fragility of relations between Pakistan and Taliban authorities, as calls grow for stronger action against militant groups and renewed diplomatic engagement.
