'Cheeky' Moment Between Amanda Balionis, Rory McIlroy Catches Attention
One of the men he joined created a viral moment between McIlroy and CBS reporter Amanda Balionis. During an interview at the Masters this weekend, Balionis brought up a comment from Jack Nicklaus.
“I know Jack Nicklaus said something to you before your opening round,” Balionis, 39, said in an on-air interview on Friday, April 10. “What did he tell you?”
“No f***ing double bogeys,” McIlroy, 36, replied as Balionis burst out laughing.
Us Weekly provided context after the exchange.
"The cheeky exchange comes two years after rumors swirled that the two were dating," the outlet said. "The chatter began within days of McIlroy] filing for divorce from his wife,Erica Stoll, as fans quickly looked to a few days prior when Balionis and McIlroy shared a light-hearted moment in an interview after the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship."
Amanda Balionis Worried Back Injury Could Cost Rory McIlroy
Ahead of the tournament Balionis questioned McIlroy's ability to win the Masters again due to a recent back injury.
“I don’t know, back issues at Augusta National are tough,” Balionis said. “We’ve seen it with a lot of players. This is a hard place to be wondering at what point am I going to feel that tug in my back?”
“I just don’t think those back things solve themselves like that when you’re a golfer and you have to keep practicing and you have to keep doing the motion that likely caused whatever the thing is,” she added.
As of the third round he holds a two-shot lead.
