Is Rory McIlroy Still Married to Wife Erica Stoll?
As he soars to the lead at the 2026 Masters, many fans are wondering whether Irish golf pro Rory McIlroy is still married to wife Erica Stoll.
The couple has struggled through a publicly chaotic relationship, with McIlroy even filing for divorce. They had a child together, reconciled, and weathered (debunked) rumors of a relationship between McIlroy and television broadcaster Amanda Balionis. A new book on McIlroy has appeared to put those romance rumors to rest once and for all.
Through it all, McIlroy and Stoll have managed to keep their relationship alive. In fact, she was on his arm for the traditional Masters dinner this year. She and their daughter were also photographed with him during the family day on the course. So, yes, it's unquestionable: They are still married.

The divorce filing caught the golf world by surprise, but McIlroy had pulled it by 2024, and the couple remained together, according to USA Today.
"Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning," McIlroy explained to the publication.
The couple met in 2012 at the Ryder Cup, according to People. They were married in 2017 and had daughter Poppy together three years later, People reported.

According to The New York Post, a new book, Golf journalist Alan Shipnuck’s Rory: The Heartache and Triumph of Golf’s Most Human Superstar, "details McIlroy reportedly flirting with Stoll at the 2012 Ryder Cup, which derailed the golfer’s engagement to tennis star Caroline Wozniacki."
That type of behavior led to rumors between McIlroy and CBS reporter Amanda Balionis in 2024, but they were never romantically involved, according to The Post.
Erica Stoll Famously Met Rory McIlroy When He Overslept
Stoll, a former high school tennis player from New York, famously met McIlroy when she worked for the PGA, and her job was to get him to a golf tournament on time.
"Stoll met McIlroy in 2012 at the Ryder Cup, where she had been working as a PGA transport official. After McIlroy overslept due to a time zone mixup and nearly missed his tee time, Stoll got him a police escort to the course in Medinah, Ill.," according to People.
He described the incident in an interview with The Golf Channel.
"Erica that week was always the one that was checking us in and out. She was there at transportation, so she was always in the car park over there (by the clubhouse),” McIlroy said. “But yeah, it’s still cool to look around and think about that week, and obviously everything that’s happened since then. It’s pretty cool.”
Added TheGolf Channel: McIlroy’s frantic commute to Medinah seven years ago ended up having ripple effects in his off-course life as well. The car was driven by his future wife, Erica Stoll, who was working the week as part of the transportation team. The two began dating shortly thereafter and got married in 2017.
