Steph Curry Just Passed This NBA Legend in All-Time Scoring
Steph Curry has been in the NBA for almost two decades. When you've played as many games as the Warriors legend has, you're bound to start moving up all sorts of all-time numerical lists.
Curry surpassed San Antonio Spurs icon Tim Duncan on the NBA's career regular-season scoring list in a game against the Sacramento Kings on Friday night. The Kings won the game 124-118. Curry is now 19th in league history with 26,504 points scored. Duncan sits at 26,496.
The Big Fundamental wasn't known for his point totals, but Duncan is still one of the very best players to ever live. Passing him in anything in the NBA means you've had a very special career.
Curry would probably love to pass Duncan in the number of NBA championships, but that might have to wait another year. The Warriors are sitting in 10th place in the Western Conference heading into the Play-In Tournament. They will have to win multiple elimination games next week to even advance to the 2026 NBA Playoffs.
Duncan won't be the last person Curry surpasses in the next year or two. About 2,000 points stand between him and Shaquille O'Neal for 10th on the list. Being one of the 10 best scorers in NBA history would be one of the most unexpected accomplishments of his career, considering pundits wrote him off as a role player who was too small to make a star-level impact at the professional level.
Curry is just one of the older stars in the NBA who keeps cramming in new things on his resume every season. LeBron James continues to amaze at 41 years old, and he leads the NBA in all-time scoring after surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 2023.
Kevin Durant stands at fifth on the scoring list with over 32,000 points. The Houston Rockets forward has a chance to move past Karl Malone if he scores a little more than 1,000 points next year.
Fans have been lucky to see these incredible athletes continue to extend their careers and break down barriers for what is possible on the court. Hopefully, Curry's greatness can extend the Warriors' season and give them a chance to play the Oklahoma City Thunder in the postseason.
