VP Ansah champions Women Empowerment at Anglican 150-Year Jubilee

Lilongwe, April 11, Mana: Vice President Dr. Jane Ansah has assured women in the country that the DPP-led government is determined to uplift the lives of women by appointing them to various positions.
Dr Ansah made the remarks at Area 15 Bambino Schools, where the Anglican, Church Women’s Union celebrated 150 years of existence.
“Under the leadership of Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, Malawi has continued to uphold its identity as a God-fearing nation, where the church plays a pivotal role in shaping values and community life. His administration has consistently encouraged the active involvement of women in the church and in other spheres.
“As women, we must not look down upon ourselves. Be assured that you can achieve anything as women.We must support our respective countries in order to develop,” she said.
Speaking earlier, the Archbishop of the Church of the Province of Central Africa, the Most Reverend Dr. Albert Chama, thanked the Vice President for accepting the invitation to be guest of honour.
“Unity is key in development, in the church, in politics, and in any community. For us to develop, we must be united.
“Our women from Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Malawi continue playing vital roles in the development of their families, which translates into national development.This is commendable,” he said.
The Women’s Union Guild was established by Mary Sumner in 1876 to positively impact society.
