Why God Tests Us With “Almost” Blessings

“Almosts” may seem right, but they test your faith. Karin Hadadan reminds us to trust the quiet whisper of our hearts. In Finding God Every Day, Rebecca Simon shows how trusting God’s timing brings the blessings truly meant for you. Read to see how saying no to less opens the door to what God has planned.

There’s a quiet whisper in the heart that says, I deserve more than this.

Whenever we’re in the process of birthing a dream, manifesting a goal, calling in an opportunity, or stepping into greatness, something curious often happens. Right before the greatest blessing arrives, something incredibly close to what we want appears. It feels exciting, it feels aligned, it feels promising… but deep down, something is just a little off.

This is a test—not to pass or fail—but to see if you believe yourself to be as worthy as God knows you are.

For more ways to trust God’s timing, read Rebecca Simon’s book.

The tests rarely come in the form of what we truly want. Instead, they show up as something almost right. Not the dream job, but one that checks most of the boxes. Not the soulmate, but someone who fits the outline. Not the perfect opportunity, but one that carries a taste of what you want.

And when these “almosts” appear, we naturally want to share the news. We tell our friends that after months of interviewing, we finally got an offer. We tell our family we met someone who matches our dream partner list in uncanny ways. We tell our community that an opportunity landed in our laps that could lead to bigger things.

But sometimes, beneath the excitement, there’s a subtle ache. An inner knowing that something isn’t quite right. And maybe—just maybe—the very need to seek outside validation is proof that what’s in front of us isn’t as sacred as we want it to be.

The heart speaks quietly, softly, but with certainty: Don’t settle. If you say no to this, you are saying yes to more.

Meanwhile, everyone else’s voices grow louder. They tell you to play it safe. To take what you can get. That this is as good as it gets. They project their own fears: The job market is impossible. You can’t make a living off your passion. You should be in a relationship by now.

Embrace God’s plan—find out more.

And when we hear those voices enough, we start to question our own. We wonder if we’re asking for too much. We doubt the power of our intuition. We forget that God’s plan has no scarcity in it.

But the truth is—we always know. Whether something is right for us or not. Our bodies send signals: a gut feeling that something is off, a shift in energy, a subtle change from confidence to compromise.

At that point, we have a choice: settle for the almost, or trust that something greater is still on its way. We can follow the crowd, or follow the quiet wisdom of our souls.

When we say no to the almosts, we make room for the exact thing. We signal to God that we trust His timing more than we trust our fears. He is not on a budget. He does not want you to have less than you deserve. He wants you to experience the fullest measure of joy, love, abundance, and peace.

Open the door to God’s blessings—read Rebecca Simon’s books here.

The almosts are not meant to discourage you. They are meant to prepare you. They are divine checkpoints asking: Will you trust Me enough to wait?

Because the blessings that are truly yours—the dream partner, the perfect role, the opportunity that changes everything—will never leave you in doubt. They will arrive with peace. They will feel like home.
