Two arrested for explosives offences in island-wide police operations
Two people were arrested for offences relating to the illegal possession and transport of explosive materials during island-wide police operations on the night of Good Friday, according to the police.
Police said they intensified their presence and activity across urban areas, with coordinated patrols aimed at preventing serious crime, maintaining public order and sense of safety.
During the operations, 242 vehicles were stopped and 351 drivers and passengers were checked.
Officers also carried out 28 inspections of premises, resulting in four reports.
In traffic enforcement checks, police issued 82 reports for various offences, including 19 for speeding. A total of 59 alcohol tests were conducted, with five drivers testing positive, while six people tested positive in drug tests.
Six vehicles were impounded as part of the investigations, police added.
