This Abortion Clinic Keeps Injuring Women in Botched Abortions
A new medical emergency was reported on March 3, around 1:00 PM, outside Hope Clinic for Women in Granite City, Illinois – known as “Hopeless Clinic” to Operation Rescue’s investigative team. Pro-life witnesses on the scene reported seeing a woman on a stretcher brought out by paramedics and loaded into an ambulance, following an abortion procedure earlier that day.
What happened
The 911 recording obtained by Operation Rescue through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) revealed a 29-year-old woman suffering from “extra bleeding” following an abortion procedure. Emergency medical services were dispatched, and the situation was treated as urgent.
Despite the urgency, during the 911 call the abortion staffer is quick to say, “She’ll be going to Barnes.” She is referring to Barnes-Jewish Hospital, located across the river and across state lines in St. Louis, Missouri. It is well known that Erin King, the abortionist and owner, has a habit of sending patients to Barnes where her husband, abortionist David Eisenberg, has gynecology privileges.

“Shoddy abortionists at ‘Hopeless’ Clinic can botch any abortion,” says Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, “then they just send the hemorrhaging woman across the state line for Barnes and Eisenberg to clean up the mess.”
No additional details about the patient’s condition have been made publicly available.
“Hopeless” Clinic
The Hope Clinic for Women, located just across the river from St. Louis, has long been a magnet for out-of-state women seeking abortions that are illegal or heavily restricted in their home states. The facility is one of the few remaining abortion centers in the Midwest that openly advertises late-term gestational abortion procedures, drawing women from across the region.
“This latest hemorrhage — or butchering — incident comes as no surprise. Operation Rescue has documented dozens of emergency calls from this hopeless clinic masquerading as a women’s health facility over the years. Yet Illinois lawmakers continue to turn a blind eye. Or worse, some actively protect and expand the abortion cartel,” said Troy Newman.
A problem with legislation
Illinois boasts some of the most extreme abortion legislation in the nation. The Reproductive Health Act of 2019, signed into law by Democratic Governor J.B. Pritzker repealed virtually every remaining safeguard for women and unborn children.
“It removed all gestational limits on abortion, eliminated parental notification requirements for minors, and redefined abortion as ‘essential healthcare.’ This shields abortionists from any meaningful oversight or accountability,” said Sarah Neely, Operation Rescue Chief Operating Officer. “Subsequent laws have gone even further, making Illinois a sanctuary state for abortion by protecting out-of-state providers from extradition and blocking any attempt to regulate the industry. Abortion clinics are not even required to undergo regulatory inspections or obtain a license. Taxpayer dollars flow freely, and abortionists operate with virtual impunity.”
In a state where the law declares that a woman’s right to abort her child is more important than basic safety or cleanliness standards, that an abortionist can be anyone, and that malpractice or other laws do not apply, incidents like this 29-year-old mother’s hemorrhage are not mere “complications” but rather the predictable, regular, deadly fruit of a system that values “choice” over human life.
A wake-up call
“Operation Rescue continues to warn the women of Illinois and the surrounding states: Do not be deceived by the lies of the abortion cartel! Places like the Hope Clinic for Women are not health clinics — they are places of heartbreak, injury, and death,” Newman added. “We urge every woman facing an unplanned pregnancy to contact a local pregnancy resource center instead, where real help, real hope, and real alternatives are offered with compassion and no hidden agenda.
“To the abortionists and clinic staff at the Hope Clinic, we say: Repent. Every drop of blood shed in that facility cries out for justice.
“And to the people of Illinois we ask: ‘Demand better. Demand that your elected officials stop protecting profit-driven abortion mills and start protecting the women they harm.”
