David Beckham sends private message to Man Utd star nearing stunning all-time record
Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has been in sensational form in the 2025-26 season.
He has already amassed 16 assists in the Premier League this term, surpassing the previous Man United record of the most assists in a season, held by David Beckham (15).
Fernandes has now revealed that the legendary attacking midfielder messaged him on Instagram.
He said (via ManUtd.com): “I’m very grateful to see my name up there with certain names and obviously you spoke about David Beckham. For me, it’s a huge privilege to be even involved in something with his name.
“I had the opportunity to speak with him. He texted me privately on Instagram and obviously I felt very grateful for that, because he is someone that probably everyone around my age has seen and looked up to and tried to replicate everything he was doing on the pitch.”
Fernandes closing in on the ultimate record
Fernandes is now just four assists away from matching the all-time Premier League record of 20, jointly held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
With seven league games still to play, the United captain has a golden opportunity to reach and potentially surpass that historic milestone.
The 31-year-old has delivered special moments this season.
Among them was his pinpoint 84th-minute assist for Harry Maguire in a dramatic 2-1 win at Anfield earlier in the campaign.
Here are the ten moments which prove that Fernandes is Manchester United royalty.
His strike against Chelsea marked the 100th goal of his career for the Red Devils.
He also became the second-fastest United player to register 200 goals and assists for the club. He leapfrogged Cristiano Ronaldo (339 games), David Beckham (393), Ryan Giggs (424) and Paul Scholes (564).
It is great to see Beckham reaching out to Fernandes privately, as the 50-year-old is a real role model for several players.
Fernandes must take this as a confidence booster and help United collect as many points as possible to end the season on a high.
