One month to go to World Baseball Softball Day 2026

With just one month remaining until 10 May 2026, the global baseball and softball community is stepping up to the plate for one of the sport’s most meaningful celebrations: World Baseball Softball Day. What began as a moment of unity between softball and baseball has grown into a global celebration of the sport — one that highlights not only the history of the game, but its vibrant, united future.

As WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari puts it: “It’s a day to celebrate our sport and all that we have achieved as one united team.” That message is now being amplified around the world.

The spirit of unity and progress is also reflected in a major milestone for the sport’s future later this year. For the first time in history, a WBSC discipline will feature at the Youth Olympic Games in Africa through Baseball5. With teams composed of three girls and two boys (or vice versa), it powerfully promotes gender equality and reflects the WBSC’s commitment to engaging youth worldwide. Its inclusion not only marks the sport’s historic debut at the Youth Olympic Games on African soil, but also contributes to Dakar 2026 becoming the first Summer Youth Olympic Games to achieve full gender equality across all sports.

This year, National Federations and athletes across all WBSC disciplines — Baseball, Softball, Baseball5 and eSports — are being called on to join the celebrations. From grassroots players to international stars, athletes' voices, stories and passion will play a key part in another exciting edition of World Baseball Softball Day.

Players are encouraged to share personal messages — what they hope to achieve in the coming year in their sporting careers, or simply the joy the game brings to their lives. These stories will not only inspire the next generation but also showcase the diversity and global reach of baseball and softball.
