#WhiteCard 2026: A Global Movement for Peace
On April 6, International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, the #WhiteCard 2026 campaign once again brought together an international community around a shared message: sport is a powerful tool for peace.
Joël Bouzou, President and Founder of Peace and Sport, stated: “Peace is not built solely at international summits, but also in everyday spaces where sport, interaction, and respect become micro-ecosystems of peace. Protecting access to sport means preserving these spaces of peace, keeping them alive, and multiplying them to build more peaceful and inclusive societies.”
Led by Peace and Sport, the #WhiteCard campaign has mobilized Champions of Peace, sports institutions, international organizations, and the media—reaching millions of people worldwide.
By sharing awareness-raising content about the millions of out-of-school children worldwide, the #WhiteCard campaign embodies a collective movement highlighting the importance of providing safe spaces for sports, which serve as vehicles for education, promote inclusion and social cohesion, and thus contribute to building peaceful communities.
Mobilization efforts across several continents
The campaign was marked by numerous local initiatives:
- In Monaco, the mobilization was characterized by the involvement of local institutions and sports organizations;
- In Kosovo, at the initiative of the Olympic Committee of Kosovo, a national mobilization involving schools and all of the country’s sports federations centered on the values of respect and social cohesion;
- In Burundi, India, and Colombia, beneficiaries of peace-through-sport programs held up their #WhiteCard in support of the movement.
