A Prayer For When You Feel Too Broken To Be Used By God
Finding peace starts with surrendering our worries to the universe and trusting that God’s guidance will meet us in the middle of our uncertainty. Best-selling author of Finding God Every Day, Rebecca Simon, reminds us to trust God’s timing, embrace patience, and lean on His presence through every season of life.
You are not too broken to be used by God. Your past doesn’t disqualify you. Your mistakes don’t make you unusable. Your mess doesn’t mean you’re unworthy of purpose. God has always specialized in using broken people to do beautiful things. He doesn’t need you to be perfect — he just needs you to be willing. So stop sitting on the sidelines convinced you’re too damaged to matter. You’re exactly who God wants to use.
God,
I don’t feel strong. I don’t feel like someone you could possibly use in this condition. There are parts of me that still carry the weight of my mistakes. Sometimes I look at my life and I see what didn’t work. I see what I lost. I see where I fell short.
And yet — you are a God who has always worked through the unlikely. Through the overlooked. Through the ones who felt unqualified and unsure. So if I am broken, then let my brokenness be a doorway, not a disqualification. If I am wounded, let it become the place where compassion grows. If I have failed, let it become the soil where humility takes root.
Remind me that you do not require perfection — you require surrender. You do not look for polished hearts, you look for open hands. Use even this version of me. The tired one. The healing one. The one still figuring it out.
If you can raise beauty from ashes, then surely you can build something holy from the pieces of my life, God. I am not too far gone. I am not too damaged. I am not beyond your reach.
Use me, God — not when I am flawless, but right here, as I am.
Amen.
