Quick Reaction: Heat 114, Raptors 128

Miami Heat 114 Final
128 Toronto Raptors
C-
J. Poeltl17 MIN, 6 PTS, 2 REB, 1 AST, 0 STL, 3-4 FG, 0-0 3FG, 0-0 FT, 1 BLK, 1 TO, 4 +/-

Crashed the glass a fair bit when he was on the floor, but wasn’t really all that noticeable tonight.

B-
S. Barnes25 MIN, 13 PTS, 4 REB, 2 AST, 0 STL, 4-6 FG, 2-2 3FG, 3-4 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, 4 +/-

Scottie really wasn’t that noticeable tonight. His play started to pick up towards the end of the third quarter, but for the majority of the game, he didn’t provide much.

C+
I. Quickley23 MIN, 11 PTS, 3 REB, 4 AST, 1 STL, 4-10 FG, 3-7 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, 12 +/-

Quiet night on the stat sheet, but he has provided a lot of much-needed spacing tonight alongside some solid defensive play.

B. Ingram37 MIN, 38 PTS, 7 REB, 7 AST, 1 STL, 13-23 FG, 2-3 3FG, 10-11 FT, 0 BLK, 1 TO, 13 +/-

BI has been the star of the show tonight. He was constantly draining buckets, grabbing rebounds, and making great passes. He has been the most noticeable player on the floor all night, thanks to his go-to midrange shooting.

A
R. Barrett35 MIN, 22 PTS, 6 REB, 3 AST, 2 STL, 6-15 FG, 1-5 3FG, 9-10 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, 14 +/-

He started attacking the basket almost immediately, and has been really involved a lot more than last game. His physicality and playstyle has been super useful tonight in another must-win game.

C+
S. Mamukelashvili18 MIN, 5 PTS, 4 REB, 1 AST, 2 STL, 2-6 FG, 1-4 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, 26 +/-

Solid defensively, but his offense wasn’t there for much of the game. He crashed to the glass a few times for points, but his shooting wasn’t hitting.

Garbage time

J. Shead22 MIN, 8 PTS, 1 REB, 3 AST, 0 STL, 3-6 FG, 2-3 3FG, 0-0 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, 13 +/-

Instead of being a pass-first player as per usual, he was a bit more of a spot-up shooter, which is a bit different than usual. Wasn’t noticeable as much due to BI stealing the show, but another okay night for him.

B-
J. Walter25 MIN, 7 PTS, 3 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL, 2-5 FG, 2-5 3FG, 1-2 FT, 0 BLK, 0 TO, 18 +/-

Has been very solid at finding space and being a spot up shooter when needed. He lost all of the Heat defenders a few times, and even drew a key foul on one of those plays. Solid night tonight for him.

C. Murray-Boyles22 MIN, 17 PTS, 8 REB, 1 AST, 2 STL, 7-7 FG, 0-0 3FG, 3-3 FT, 1 BLK, 1 TO, 21 +/-

Another great physical performance from CMB. He stayed close to the paint a lot, and cleaned up a lot of missed shots both offensively, and defensively. Has been one of the more effective players on the floor tonight

Darko Rajakovic

He used a similar gameplan to last game, and it somewhat paid off. It helped that Ingram was absolutely electric from the midrange, but the bench (CMB to name an example) was extremely useful tonight.

Things We Saw

  1. Heat came out of the gate how, seemingly adjusting from last night but the raptors did. BI and the defense thankfully saved the game
  2. Ad mentioned earlier, It was all Ingram tonight, but a lot more players were creating space for spot-up threes, which I like to see.

This season I set out to record the Toronto Raptors’ playbook as a personal project. Over the last few years I’ve taken an interest in Xs and Os, have been progressively working away learning and took a suggestion that this would be a good way to help cement that knowledge. Now that the season’s reaching its climax and the games count more than they have in years, it figures that people may have a closer eye on the tactics at play including some of the actions, and sequences of actions, Toronto runs.
