Donald Trump claims he ‘didn’t know’ about Melania’s bombshell Epstein speech
Donald Trump has claimed he was blindsided by the First Lady Melania’s Epstein speech last night.
Melania Trump took everyone by surprise yesterday after holding a press conference to announce she had no knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes nor a relationship with him.
The First Lady insisted the convicted financier didn’t introduce him to Trump and that images and statements about her and Epstein circulating on social media are ‘fake.’
Now the saga around her unexpected address has deepened after the US president insisted he was not briefed about Melania’s intentions beforehand.
Trump told MS Now in a brief phone call that he didn’t know what her statement was going to be.
He added that Melania ‘didn’t know [Epstein].’
Elsewhere, Trump has been lashing out at his allies amid the tense and fragile ceasefire with Iran.
In one of his lengthiest Truth Social posts in a while, Trump turned on conservative activist Tucker Carlson, right-wing conspiracy theorist Candace Owens, political commentator Megyn Kelly and controversial right-wing radio host Alex Jones.
They were all vocal supporters of Trump until recently after criticising the president’s approach in Iran, claiming that he was misled by Israel into launching the war and that he abandoned his ‘America first’ attitude.
Trump said the four had ‘one thing in common, low IQs’ and labelled them ‘NUT JOBS, TROUBLEMAKERS.’
‘They’re stupid people, they know it, their families know it, and everyone else knows it, too,’ he wrote.
He then raised some of the controversies tied to each right-wing activist, including Candace Owens, for repeating the false conspiracy theory that Brigitte Macron, the First Lady of France, is a man.
She has filed a defamation lawsuit in the US against Owens following her claims that Macron is a man named Jean-Michel Trogneux.
Trump said: ‘Actually, to me, the First Lady of France is a far more beautiful woman than Candace, in fact, it’s not even close!’
Owens, one of Trump’s most vocal supporters until now, responded to the 79-year-old on social media by writing that ‘it may be time to put Grandpa up in a home.’
The US relationship with NATO is at rock bottom after Trump’s repeated threats hinting that he wants to leave the military alliance or he is not pleased with its member states.
Yesterday, Trump said in another Truth Social post that the ‘very disappointing’ NATO doesn’t understand ‘anything unless they have pressure placed upon them.’
