Masters 2026: Frustrated Jon Rahm Comments on First-Round Performance
Former Masters Champion Jon Rahm had a disastrous Round 1 at the 2026 tournament, posting his highest score ever at the event. The golfer finished the day with six shots over par, finishing with 78 shots on the day. When interviewed after, Rahm spoke bluntly about his performance to LIV Golf Editorial Senior Director Mike McAllister.

"It's a hard golf course. Some of the players might have been able to manage a respectable round, but when you have no…
Rahm also offered some insight into his trouble on the 13th hole. The golfer finished with a double-bogey, pushing him to six shots over par.
"I still don't know what happened, honestly," Rahm told McAllister. "To get so lucky off the tee, to have an 8-iron in my hand, I don't know, that ball came out 20 -- about 10 yards left, 20 feet higher, and hooking in a way that I didn't expect. To make such a mistake from what could have been a good birdie look, it's a big problem."
Rahm wasn't the only LIV golfer struggling today, as none of the 10 players representing the league shot under par. Both Rahm and fellow LIV star Bryson DeChambeau were among the top favorites to win the tournament, and both find themselves far behind the lead, with DeChambeau finishing four shots over par. Their scores are far behind defending champion Rory McIlroy, who finished five shots under par Thursday.
