Under investigation: DOJ probes J6 witness who claimed Trump tried to commandeer limousine
A witness for ex-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s partisan committee that tried to blame President Donald Trump for the protest and riot on January 6, 2021, at the Capitol who claimed the president tried to commandeer a limousine now is under investigation.
A report at Just the News identifies the J6 witness as Cassidy Hutchinson.
She now is under investigation by the Civil Rights Division in the Department of Justice, the report said.
Her testimony delivered to the partisan committee, as Pelosi refused to allow GOP-nominated members of Congress to join the work, was used by the committee against Trump.
The report cited unidentified sources who told the New York Times the DOJ is looking into whether Hutchinson committed perjury.
The report noted, “The department assigning the case to the division appears unusual considering it focuses on potential civil rights violations – not allegations of crime, which would include lying to Congress. The probe reportedly began in recent weeks as then-Attorney General Pam Bondi attempted unsuccessfully to keep from being fired, according to two unnamed sources.”
While investigations into alleged perjury to Congress typically would be handled by the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington, now run by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, officials at the DOJ gave the case directly to the Civil Rights Division, led by chief Harmeet Dhillon, the report said.
The investigation apparently was triggered by a referral from a member of Congress who accused her of lying to the congressional committee.
The report outlined how “Hutchinson testified that Trump had encouraged the crowd that gathered to hear him speak near the White House on January 6 to march to the Capitol even though he knew it could turn violent. She also claimed that she had heard that Trump lunged at a Secret Service agent in a presidential limo when he was told he could not join his supporters on Capitol Hill.”
That was contradicted by other witnesses.

According to the Washington Examiner, the referral from Congress was from Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., who accused Hutchinson of delivering false testimony to the committee.
Hutchinson, a former White House aide, 29, played a role in shaping public opinion of Trump’s conduct on that day.
Democrats repeatedly have insisted that it was a Trump-led insurrection against the very existence of the American government, a claim that is not supported by evidence as no one, of hundreds arrested and charged with offenses like trespassing that day, was charged with insurrection.
In fact, Democrat-run lawfare against Trump over those events failed in federal courts.
One of the projects of the DOJ in a Trump administration has been to investigate whether the Democrats in power during that time of lawfare actually broke the law themselves. A grand jury actually is reviewing evidence to determine whether there was a sort of “grand conspiracy” against Trump and that could result in charges against many officials, as high as Barack Obama’s CIA chief, John Brennan, and FBI chief, James Comey.
Acting Attorney General Blanche said many investigations now are ongoing, and, “It is true that some of them involve men, women and entities that the president in the past has had issues with and believes should be investigated. That is his right and indeed it is his duty to do that, meaning to lead this country.”
